Correct flag size for flagpole
We get asked frequently about the proper flag size for their flagpole. The proper flag size is not only for looks, but also for function. Too large of a flag, can put more stress on the flagpole than it can handle under extreme windy conditions. To small of a flag, and aesthetically it doesn’t look good.
There is a basic rule of thumb. The flag length should be a quarter to one third the length of the flagpole. Below is the flag size to flagpole length ratio.
